Fringe #15 Exercise
Objective: This exercise is designed to guide you beyond the confines of physical reality, challenging your perception of existence and inviting you into a state of pure consciousness. By removing your sensory attachments to the material world, you’ll venture into a realm of pure being, shedding illusions and uncovering the essence of your true self.
Steps:
- Preparation:
It’s recommended that you watch Eric’s Q&A class from Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, to build a mandala in your mind for the necessary concepts.
- Awareness of Environment:
With your eyes closed, mentally catalog the room around you. Note the objects and their placement—the couch, TV, curtains, etc. Acknowledge your presence within this space.
- Selective Elimination:
Begin with the curtains. Imagine them fading from existence, leaving just the window and its view. Proceed to remove each object from your mental image of the room, one by one—start with larger items and their immediate surroundings, then move to smaller ones.
- The Empty Room:
Once you’ve cleared the room of furniture and objects, focus on the windows or doors, envisioning them sealing off until you’re left with a bare, enclosed space.
- Vanishing Boundaries:
Erase the floor beneath you, transforming it into the same uniform void as the walls. You should now perceive yourself within an empty, undefined space.
- Embracing the Void:
Remove the walls, ceiling, and any remaining physical barriers, immersing yourself in total darkness. Maintain a sense of calm and neutrality as you dwell in this boundless void.
- Fading Self:
Now, turn your attention inward. Imagine your physical form gradually dissolving until all that remains is your consciousness—a presence without form, floating in the void.
- The Ultimate Release:
Challenge yourself to let go of this final vestige of identity. Allow your consciousness itself to dissipate, striving to reach a state of complete non-being, where even the concept of ‘self’ vanishes.
- Revelation in Nothingness:
In this moment of absolute emptiness, discover the light of pure existence. It’s here, beyond illusions and desires, that you may encounter the true essence of being, a profound union with the universe.
- Reflection and Integration:
Gently reintroduce the sense of your physical form and the room around you. Take your time returning to the material world, carrying with you the insights and sensations from your journey. Reflect on your experience. How did it feel to strip away layers of physical reality? What did you discover in the void? How has your perception of self and existence shifted?
Conclusion: This exercise is not a one-time journey but a practice in peeling away the layers of reality and self to uncover the boundless essence beneath. With each session, you may find yourself moving closer to a profound understanding of your true nature and the illusion of the material world.
